All grey everything

Planning an upcoming trip to Copenhagen has rekindled my love of all things grey. Ok, my obsession didn’t really need any encouragement, but numerous Pinterest searches for ‘scandi style’ confirmed that my suitcase need only be filled with white, black and – of course – grey items.

I’m always on the search for the perfect grey t-shirt or jumper, but one item that eludes my wardrobe is a simple grey tunic. Something that can be worn with trainers over jeans or with leather-look leggings and ankle boots is what I’ve decided I need to blend in with the locals on my weekend in Denmark.

There are a few tunics out there, but none fit the bill exactly.

1 Topshop TALL Flippy Tunic Dress | 2 Topshop Long Sleeved Ribbed Tunic Dress
3 Marks and Spencer Collection Pure Cotton Drop Shoulder Tunic

Topshop’s flippy tunic is the perfect colour, but the shape is a bit too, well, flippy for me. The long sleeved ribbed tunic dress has a nice neck line, but I’m not really looking for a bodycon tunic this time. The M&S option is the closest to what I had in mind, but looks like it might be too long for me.

Fortunately, I have a striped tunic from Zara that is the perfect shape, so I’m hoping to copy the design to make my own tunic, using this fabric from Vend Fabrics. With super-speedy next-day delivery and fabric at £5.50 per metre you can’t really go wrong! Just bear in mind you have to pay via paypal or bank transfer (something I didn’t realise as I swiftly placed my order!).

I’ll be back next week with (hopefully) the finished item and (almost certainly) a few things I’ve learned along the way.
